We studied about the symbolism of the American Flag today. The United States wanted a symbolism for their freedom. Over the centuries, there has been many designs for our flag. One of the original designs had 13 red and white stripes and 13 stars symbolizing the 13 colonies. Today, there are 50 stars on the flag representing each of the 50 states but there are still only thirteen red and white stripes reminding us of everything the original thirteen colonies went through to secure our freedom today.
My mom taught me how to use Photoshop today by having me create an American flag graphic. I took the liberty of rearranging the stars to make the number 13 to represent the thirteen colonies.
Point well taken. But then again, I don't think they should run much transit in mixed traffic at all--that is, if there's any traffic to speak of.
But, I could see some situations where giving the streetcar dedicated right of way could happen in the future, just like creating a bus lane. At least streetcar is cheaper than heavier rail to alter and expand, and even a short, bad stretch only popular among yuppies and tourists (read: Portland) can be the beginning of a network that gets better over time. But, I really have no hope for the U.S. until I see Rasengleise ;D
