The Battleship Texas is the only surviving battleship to have fought in both World War I and World War II. She is maintained as a monument to the sailors who fought through the wars in defense of our country.
The first thing the boys did when we walked onto the ship was climbed up on the gun ports. Most of them were open for kids to climb on - only a few said “keep off”. The kids were able to maneuver them and play. We also explored each of the decks of the ship - everything from the sailors’ bunks to the kitchens to the officers’ quarters to the brig.
Everyone enjoyed the ship and it was one of the boys’ favorites stops on this trip so far.
