There was a Greek Orthodox Church 4 minutes away from our hotel. Yes! We pull up to the church in time for Liturgy to start and see a large sign advertising for their Greek Festival - this weekend. Cool. We knew where we were going to eat lunch after church.
Every Orthodox church has icons and a specific layout for how the church is built but there is still a certain amount of artistic uniqueness to each church. This church had an undeniable Orthodox look and feel with icons lining the walls, icon screen, and windows but it also had a local flavor in the rest of the way it was decorated. It reminded me a lot of a colonial style with it's dark woods and ornate decorations. It was fitting for a church located in Philadelphia.
