Les and I are graduates of the Travel Channel Academy!
It has been a hobby of ours for several years now to film our kids, edit it, and then send out a Christmas movie of our kids as our family has grown to our extended family and friends since many of them live far away from us. Filming and editing are something we find really enjoyable to do together after the kids have fallen asleep and the house is peaceful. I saw the commercial for the Travel Channel Academy and told Les about it. He was completely on board to register and take the class together. We sought out a babysitter for our kids and thanks to Les’ mom we were able to take an extended weekend and drive to Washington D.C. for the course. It’s an intensive weekend bootcamp and you learn a lot of filming techniques and editing in the classes. We produced three short form videos (two individually and then one together) by the end of the bootcamp and found the entire experience completely worth the time and money we put into it.
We were jittery with excitement when we sent out our Christmas movie this year to all of our family. From the feedback we received, I know the course helped us improve our techniques. We look forward to making many more videos together!!!
